Sex Therapy with Claire Watt-Smyrk

Psychosexual therapy can help overcome barriers to sexual harmony and satisfaction. It is a structured process that explores the origins, impact and meaning of sexual problems and helps to plan an agreed way forward. By supporting understanding and openness, sex therapy aims to alleviate anxiety and painful emotions, and nurture acceptance and self-love.

I am a fully qualified psychosexual therapist, and work for the NHS Psychosexual service as well as having my own practice. My sessions provide a safe, confidential space for individuals and couples to discuss sexual issues without fear of judgment or prejudice. Using my understanding of psychoanalytic, behavioural and cognitive therapy techniques, I design courses of therapy tailored to the individual’s needs.

I am a registered member of the following bodies:

  • BSSM British Society for Sexual Medicine (BSSM)
  • cosrt College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT)
  • bacp British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
  • Tavistock Relationships Tavistock Alumnic British Society of Couple Psychotherapists and Counsellors (BSCPC)

I work professionally within their strict ethical guidelines, which include a code of confidentiality. I also have Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance, which used to be known as a CRB check.
